In Year Three we work hard to build on the solid foundations laid down in Key Stage One. We aim to encourage the children to become even more independent, taking on extra responsibility for their learning.
The new Autumn term will open with a science-based topic on 'Audio and Visal' as part of our intergrated curricukum. Children will get the opportunity to experiment with sound, investigating how it is produced and create their instruments. Children will also look in detail at vision and how we see, within that, they will explore reflection and shadows. The unit will also present many opportunities for children to develop their ICT; music; art and design and technology skills.
There will be further exciting learning opportunities across the year including topics on the Romans; Chocolate; Our Inner Space and the Gambia which will develop children's history, technology, science and geography skills. In each of these themes learning will be made as lively as possible through trips, role play and experiential activities.
Children will continue to build on and develop their numeracy skills from the Key Stage One and there will be a strong focus on writing throughout our literacy units.
Overall we will strive to make Year Three a place where the learning is always challenging, but fun!
