At Norwood we aim to provide children with a safe, secure and inviting enviroment which enables them to make the most of their abilities and unlock their potential. The children have access to an indoor and outdoor classroom throughout the day with free-flow access between both areas. |
|
The Reception Team spent a great deal of time interacting with the children, supporting them through their chosen activities and the adult directed tasks. Through observation, we gain a picture of the whole child, identifying and celebrating achievement and planning the next steps. We value the observations made by family members as it is often when children are at their most secure that they display their abilities. |

Intake Procedure
Once a place has been allocated, children are invited to come to 'New to Norwood' club for two afternoons to meet the team of adults and explore their new classroom. At the beginning of the Autumn Term, children will be visited at home. This enables the adults in school to gain a picture of the children's interests and begin to develop a bond with the child and their family.

Curriculum
Our theme areas follow a rolling programme.
Through these theme areas we aim to:
- develop children's ability to learn with others
- develop independence and responsibility
- improve their own learning and performance
- develop a sense of self-worth and understanding of self and others
- thinking skills
- speaking and lisening
We belive in the education of the whole child and that young children learn best through a range of first hand experiences. During this year, children will be visited by members of the community such as the police and fire brigade. We also make the most of outdoor provision through walks and trips to nearby places of interest.
